Copper engraving by Johann Elias Ridinger (1698? - 1766)

Johann Elias Ridinger is known for his many animal and hunting prints. He was a very prolific etcher, not only of copper etchings but also mezzotints. He was a student of G.P. Rugendas who influenced the printing of mezzotints. Ridinger also did some botanical plates for J.G. Weinman.

The TH-numbers refer to the Johann Elias Ridinger works catalog by Georg August Wilhelm Thienemann, published in the year 1856.

The copper etchings date between 1740 -1768

Water marks in upper margin away from image. Way outside image a bit wrinkly in places. One repaired tear in lft margin away from image. Very wide margins.
