First Edition Ortelius Maps

To find Ortelius maps of the 1570 First Edition is rare! We were lucky to buy a hopelessly incomplete, but well kept Ortelius atlas. We offer here some of the maps that were still in this diminished First Edition "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" by Abraham Ortelius. Antwerp, 1570.

The maps are easily identifiable by the numbers on the reverse side of each map. The numbering of maps changed as Ortelius published further editions of his atlas.

The language is Latin. Some margins have been widened, as the Ortelius First Edition atlases had wide margins only with smaller size maps. Larger maps had often very narrow margins. Centerfolds have been flattened. A few light spots and minor signs of age and use.

First Edition collectors will be happy about this rare opportunity.

Numbers relate to page numbers from reverse side of maps, indicating

First Edition
